Privacy Policy

1. What FreeReadingTracker Is

FreeReadingTracker is an independent, ad-free web application providing a private personal reading tracker and a collection of standalone reading calculators and planning utilities (such as reading time estimation, daily page calculations, reading speed testing, and printable logs).

2. What Information Is Stored

The application only stores the information that you voluntarily choose to enter into the reading tracker or calculator fields:

• Book details: Titles, authors, total page counts, formats (physical book, e-book, audiobook), and optional genres.
• Reading progress: Current page numbers, start dates, completion dates, and shelf statuses (Currently Reading, Want to Read, Finished).
• Personal ratings & notes: 1-to-5 star ratings and personal takeaways or memorable quotes you record.
• Reading goals: Annual book and page targets you set.
• Interface preferences: Your preferred visual appearance (light or dark mode) to prevent flashing upon reload.

3. Where Information Is Stored

All information is stored exclusively on your personal device using your web browser's native localStorage technology under the key freereadingtracker_v1 (and theme for display preferences).

This data is stored client-side only. It is never transmitted to, processed by, or stored on our servers or databases. We have no technical capability to view, inspect, or access the reading lists or notes you keep.

4. Cookies

FreeReadingTracker does not set or read tracking cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, marketing identifiers, canvas fingerprinting, or tracking pixels.

5. Web Analytics

No third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or user session recorders) are integrated into FreeReadingTracker. We do not monitor your individual browsing behavior, calculator inputs, or reading habits across pages.

6. Third-Party Services & CDNs

The site connects to a minimal set of external infrastructure purely to render the visual design:

• Google Fonts: Web fonts (Geist, Geist Mono, and Newsreader) are loaded via Google's font delivery network (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these font files, your standard IP address is transmitted as part of normal internet HTTP routing, subject to Google's standard font privacy terms. No reading tracker data is ever sent to Google.

7. Data Sharing

Because your reading data never leaves your device, we do not sell, rent, monetize, or share your data with any third party, data broker, or advertiser.

8. Exporting Your Data

You retain complete ownership of your library. FreeReadingTracker includes a built-in JSON backup and export feature:

In your Personal Reading Tracker, click Backup / Export to download a clean .json file containing your complete library, ratings, notes, and goal milestones to your local computer or phone.

9. Deleting Your Data

You can permanently delete your locally stored data at any time through two methods:

1. Inside the Tracker: Remove individual books by opening their options menu and clicking Delete Book, or reset your entire database using the Clear All Data option in the tracker settings.
2. Inside Your Browser: Clear your browser's site data, cookies, or local storage for freereadingtracker.com within your browser's privacy or security settings.

10. Children's Privacy

FreeReadingTracker does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the site requires no accounts, names, or contact details, it is safe for readers of all ages.

11. Changes to This Policy

If our data practices or feature architecture change in the future (for instance, if optional cloud backup or community features are ever introduced), this Privacy Policy will be revised accordingly with a new "Last Updated" date.

12. Contact & Questions

FreeReadingTracker is provided as a free public utility. Because we do not store customer records, user accounts, or server databases, there are no remote user accounts to modify or personal files to retrieve on your behalf.
